OLED Emissive Materials

Toray provides OLED device materials for OLED displays, a next-generation display technology that continues to expand due to its self-emissive nature, low power consumption, thin and lightweight design, flexibility, and high contrast. Among OLED device materials, Toray offers Charge Generation Layer Materials, Electron Transport Layer Materials, and Emissive Layer Materials.

Features

  1. Enables lower operating voltage and reduced power consumption in OLED devices.
  2. Enables higher efficiency in OLED devices.
  3. Enables longer device lifetime and improved durability.
  4. Enables stable operation of OLED devices under prolonged high-temperature driving conditions.

Applications/Usage

Toray’s OLED materials are primarily supplied as solid powders. These materials are loaded into a vacuum deposition system and deposited onto a substrate under vacuum and high-temperature conditions to fabricate OLED devices.

<Organic EL element example (cross section)>

A typical cross-sectional structure of an OLED device is shown below. The device is fabricated by sequentially depositing layers onto a substrate, including the anode, hole transport layer, emissive layer, electron transport layer, and other functional layers. When current is applied, holes (+) are injected from the anode and electrons (−) are injected from the cathode. They recombine in the emissive layer, generating light.
